A Partnership with Habitat for Humanity

LONGing to make dreams of home ownership a reality, sales associates and employees of the Long Companies eagerly anticipate the kick-off of their annual building project with Habitat for Humanity. Hundreds of company volunteers pound nails, saw lumber, and help construct a house for a deserving family. Long Realty Cares Foundation coordinates the building venture and conducts a company-wide fundraising campaign, donating the money to Habitat to help offset costs associated with building the home.

Once a house is complete, there is a heart-warming dedication ceremony as the family moves in. Celebrating the joy of family, home, and hope is a rewarding experience. Our affiliation with Habitat dates back to 1998 and translates into fulfilling a life-long dream for many low-income families. It is a perfect parallel to our real estate service business and complement to the mission of Long Realty Cares Foundation.

Founded in 1980, Habitat for Humanity Tucson (HFHT) is the first Habitat affiliate in Arizona and the seventh in the world. HFHT has built more than 265 homes locally for low-income families. Habitat's partnership model provides an innovative solution to the crisis in affordable housing; HFHT builds houses with families and with communities. Acting as a facilitator, HFHT brings together sponsors who provide financial resources, volunteers who build the houses, and families who provide up to 400 hours of sweat equity to realize their dream of home ownership. House payments made by the homeowners are returned to a revolving building fund, allowing Habitat to build more houses.
