Sustenance for 2009

Long Cares offers the “promise of hope to those who need shelter, sustenance and comfort, and the commitment to serve the needs of the communities in which we work and live.”

During this present economic climate, it is especially important to reach out to those around us who need the basics of life – nourishment, food, shelter. Because of this need, Long Realty Cares Foundation has chosen a special direction for 2009: Sustenance.

In the spirit of Sustenance, we’re excited to announce that Long Realty Cares Foundation has pledged to give a check to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona (http://communityfoodbank.com) every month for a year. As many of you know, the Food Bank is in dire need of food and funds to help the hungry. Families in need of food help have increased 46% and the numbers are expected to grow during the coming months. Each dollar donated to the Community Food Bank will convert to $9 of food, so these donations will go a long way!

Long Realty Cares Foundation will continue to grant funds to local organizations and will join with TAR for a 2009/2010 Habitat for Humanity Home Sponsorship, and by adding this special theme of Sustenance, your generous donations will stretch that extra mile in our community.

In 2008 Long Cares was pleased to have the opportunity to support the Food Bank’s Snak-Pak for Kids program, which provides food for hungry school children to take home on the weekends. Your outpouring of donations for the Long Haul during the holidays inspired Long Cares to give emergency funds to the Food Bank.

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona is also in need of volunteers, so Long Cares will be launching volunteer efforts, as well as food drives in your office.
