Community Connection
Cats in the Community
More than 500 volunteers came out on March 1, 2008 to the square mile block of property at the intersection of 6th Ave and 17th Street for the University of Arizona’s “Cats in the Community” Day. U of A faculty and students, along with others from local businesses, donated their time to transform the property for the Primavera Foundation, an organization that provides services to homeless men, women and families.
Long Cares Foundation was proud to be a “TOPcat” sponsor for the day. Board Members and agents lent their helping hands toward the much needed make-over for some of Primavera’s buildings. The volunteers contributed over 2,000 hours of time and were able to accomplish the day’s goals. Shelters were refurbished, a shade structure was constructed, care packages were assembled, and the property was painted and cleaned, among many other things.
